Ask the Recruiter – “WHAT DID YOU DO DURING COVID-19?”

If you are in the job market and interviewing, I guarantee this topic will come up during the interview.  Because of this, it is important to do a reflection on what you have done during this stay at home period.  Please note there are no right or wrong answers.  The interviewer is trying to address the following:

  1. How well you respond to adversity?  This has been a difficult time for everyone as routines have stopped and new ones have started.  This type of change can paralyze some people.
  2. How long did it take you to begin taking action?  Some people have stayed in their pajamas all day and some people shower and get dressed each day.  Did it take a week, month or are you still waiting for an all clear to start functioning again?
  3. What did you do?  Did you start a new hobby, workout routine, online class, read books or project?  On the other hand, did you watch Netflix all day for a month, wear out the carpet to the refrigerator and sleep in until 10?

There are no right or wrong answers but people will want to know how you made the best of this difficult situation. It is not too late to start an activity or projects that speaks to your energy, attitude, drive and work ethic.  If there is anything, I can do to help you, please let me know.
