Hot Jobs – ESS
Introduction:
April saw the job market continue to evolve in a positive way for job seekers. We’re seeing more companies looking to hire people and we’re noticing some companies are aggressively moving people through their hiring process. For some of our clients, it’s not unusual for them to schedule multiple interviews in the same week when historically most companies will do one interview a week.
We completed our first quarter analysis and saw some of our key metrics drastically improve:
• Time from the day we accept a new search until we present the first candidate decreased from 10 days in 2025 to 6 days in 2026.
• Time from the day we accept a new search until we present the candidate who is hired decreased from 21 days to 16 days.
• Time from the day we introduced the person who is hired, until they complete the entire interview process and is given an offer, decreased by 7 days. Companies who know what they are looking for and move when they find it, get the best talent.
Each company moves at their own pace. In 2026, we are seeing more companies increasing their speed to hire and are becoming more creative.

Ask the Recruiter – “What is the number one decision people dread the most?”
According to Popular Science in November of last year, the number one life decision people dread the most is accepting a new job. This was consistent for both men and women.
We agree that this can be a stressful time for people. We also know there are things you can do to help lower the dread and make the transition a little smoother. Below are some best practices to consider when accepting a new job.
• You understand the role completely
• You believe in the company mission and vision
• You believe your new manager wants you to succeed and will support you
• You have met with supervisors and co-workers who you are comfortable with and feel a connection with
• You see no future at your current company
• You can see a long-term future with a career path at the new company
Changing jobs can be stressful. Asking the right questions throughout the process while doing your homework in between interviews are some of things you can do to help you be informed on your decision. Too often, when people dread making a job change its because they do not have enough information or are unsure what to look for.
