Introduction:
Happy New Year! 2021 was an incredible year for ESS as we helped a record number of companies and individuals fill open positions and change jobs. As we look forward in 2022, we believe the momentum will carry on. The unemployment rate was 4.2% in December. In February 2019 the rate was 3.5%. Based on the numbers over the last year, it appears the rate will be under 4.0% again soon.
This means that companies will continue to be challenged to find qualified applicants and applicants may have multiple opportunities to consider when they are making a job change. Regardless of the position you are in, please keep ESS in mind. Our track record of success in this industry is unmatched. We welcome the opportunity to help you fill an open position within your department or company as well as help you in your next career change. If there is anything we can do to support
Ask the Recruiter – “WHy should i upodate my resume now?”
January is always a month of excitement and anticipation for things to come in the new year. One of the things we encourage everyone to do is update their resume at least once a year. January tends to be the most popular month to update your resume. When updating your resume, ask yourself the following questions to trigger reflection on accomplishments from 2021:
- What did you do that made money, saved money, improved a process, or helped the company become more efficient? How is that impact measurable?
- What personal accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
- How did your leadership or initiative impact your department or company?
- What other departments or people did you work with to accomplish goals?
The goal of this exercise is to come up with a handful of bullet points you could potentially use on your resume. In addition, by documenting it now, the impact and accomplishments are fresh for you. This information will also be helpful when you have a review. Completing this type of exercise prior to a review gives you tools to use during your review.
