Introduction:

Forbes Magazine has once again recognized Executive Staffing Solutions as one of the top 100 executive search firms in the country.  Each year they survey employers to see what firms they use and then survey the individuals who worked with the firms. It is an honor to not only have made this list for the past several years running, but also because we have moved up in our ranking each year.

Thank you. Thank you for trusting ESS to help you fill your critical openings. We try our best to help every person we work with. Ask the Recruiter – What do you see changing in the interview process this year?”

ESS is getting ready to celebrate its 19th year in business next month.  During our past 19 years, we have seen different events that have changed the job market. The anticipation of the Affordable Care Act froze the health insurance job market and the housing market collapse in 2008 affected the employment market.  The flip-side is the current unemployment market is 3.5% and job growth has continued for over 100 consecutive months.  What this means to the current hiring process is that there are two top focuses:

1. Identify talent – companies understand they can no longer passively look for 10 months and interview 20 people to find the perfect match. Top companies today anticipate when they will need to hire, have a plan and are ready to make an offer as soon as they find the right candidate.  The days of interviewing large candidate pools, slowly over time, are over.

2. Location – Even though we are a national firm who works literally from Maine to Washington, companies want local candidates.  Unless it’s a unique skill set, companies tend to err on the side of a local candidate versus one who requires relocation.

If you are considering a change and would like to discuss a strategy tailored to your needs, please reach out. Each person and situation is different and we would like to do our best to help you land in the best role for you.
