The first two months of the year have seen more stability than we saw in 2024. More and more companies are beginning to upgrade their teams which will provide job seekers with more opportunities to consider. The pace of the hiring process continues at the rate it did in 2024. Getting through the hiring process in a few weeks like people did in 2021 and 2022 seems unlikely in 2025. Companies are more demanding and deliberate in their hiring process. One note, if you happen to be hiring for a newly created role, our history shows these new roles take much longer than a replacement role as the hiring manager calibrates to find exactly what they are looking for.

If you need to hire people, here are questions to consider:

1. How do I feel about being full-time in the office or a hybrid work schedule?
2. How much flexibility do I have with compensation depending on the work schedule I am comfortable with? Will I pay a fully remote person the same as a full time in the office person?
3. How do you feel about other departments not having the same requirements?
4. What are some non-cash components we should consider when making an offer like an early review?

We are discussing work schedules with potential applicants as we know this impacts on the willingness of certain people to raise their hand. Some companies are beginning to make blanket statements on the work schedule employees are required to follow. The number of fully remote roles continues to drop.
