If you feel like ESS should collaborate with your company or if there is a company you think we should be speaking with, please let me know.
We anticipate more changes on the job front in 2025. One thing we know each year is that there will be changes to the interview process. Who knows what those will be in 2025, but we encourage you to follow ESS and keep us informed as to any changes on your end. If you are committed to a job change in 2025, we would like to speak with you so we can better keep an eye out for you.
Let’s work together to make this the best year yet!
Ask the Recruiter – “WHAT ARE SOME BASIC VIDEO INTERVIEW TIPS?”
Video interviews are here to stay and almost every interview process includes at least one video interview. Below are best practices and reminders to follow when conducting a phone interview. They apply if you are the interviewee or the interviewer.
- Video camera location – Is your camera eye level? A common mistake is that some cameras either point up to the person or point down to the person. Either way creates an awkward angle for the person on the other end.
- Distance to the camera – The camera should be one arm length away or 1.5-3 feet away from you. The most common mistake is that the camera is too close. If the only part of you visible on the screen is your entire face, you are too close.
- Background distractions – When was the lats time you did a background audit of what’s displayed when you are on a call? A common mistake is to display things that could be a distraction for the other person on the call. Also, if you use a background option from the service provider, remember to error on the side of simple or to blur your background.
The physical preparation of your video meeting is as important as your mental preparation. Your appearance, which includes the background and how much of you are visible, will contribute to the overall success of the interview.
