Introduction:

We helped a lot of people find a new opportunity in January. In fact, we helped more people in January than any single month in 2024. We appreciate both the individuals and the companies trusting ESS and the process we follow.

We also recently completed our 2024 review. Below are some interesting numbers we wanted to share.

  • 65% of the people we found for new jobs, we found using LinkedIn.
  • 15% of the people we found for new jobs were referred to us by other individuals like you.
  • 34 days – the average for how long it takes from the day we introduce a candidate to the company until that person is hired
  • 6% of candidates relocated for the job. 94% were local, hybrid, or fully remote

If you would like other specific data that may help you or your company, please let us know as we track a lot of information. Thank you for trusting ESS!

Ask the Recruiter – “WHAT AIS THE STAR METHOD?”

Perhaps the most frustrating thing when interviewing someone is when those individuals start talking and continue to ramble on for several minutes without much of a purpose. In 25 years, we have never had an employer call and say, “I wish this person would talk more.” In fact, it’s the opposite and we see outstanding candidates get rejected because they talk too much.

The STAR Method is a tool to help you better communicate your answers using a formula to ensure your example or story stays on track.

  • Situation – Provide context to what you are about to share. In essence, set the scene.
  • Task – Describe the task or goal you set out to accomplish.
  • Action – What were the actions steps you took to complete the task?
  • Result – Describe the results you achieved from your effort.

The STAR Method is great for behavioral based interviews. Questions that start with, “give me an example…” or “tell me about a time when…” are examples of when this would be helpful.

If you tend to ramble, we encourage you to bring that awareness to the interview and incorporate the STAR Method or another strategy to keep your answers concise.

If you need help or would like to discuss the interview process, please let me know.
